Bound in leather. Sealed with a number.
Each Vitae is issued in the name of the horse's studbook and kept by its owner. It is bound at the top, so the pages turn upwards, and it grows as the horse's life fills it. New pages are printed from verified entries. Each time the book is opened, a new numbered seal is fitted and logged.
